I lovingly create honest, authentic and individual hand-crafted ceramics with a contemporary aesthetic. Inspired by the fragile, seductive and receptive nature of clay, I relish in the endless possibilities of ceramics, particularly for self exploration and expression. Predominantly self taught, I largely find inspiration in the diversity and unpredictability of the textures, patterns and colours of the natural environment. I see beauty in the flaws, scars and imperfections that are often overlooked. I enjoy the freedom of using a variety of clays and have a relentless curiosity with experimentation and testing the limits.
Anna Bowie Ceramics
My journey of making pots began with going to a local pottery class with a dear friend in 2016. It only took a few wheel-throwing classes and I fell in love with working with clay. I hand paint and carve delicate patterns on my pots where the natural colour and texture of clay are integral parts of the composition. Most of the patterns on my pottery have been influenced by traditional Eastern European fabric design. Part time teaching, part time pottery and family life give me fulfilment in life and keep me busy all year around.
